Texas Water Development Board approves $44,000,000 to the Lumberton Municipal Utility District (Hardin County) for a wastewater treatment plant

AUSTIN – (June 9, 2022) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $44,000,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to the Lumberton Municipal Utility District (Hardin County). The District will use the assistance for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.

With the commitment provided today, the District could save approximately $10,300,000 over the life of the loan by using the CWSRF.

With the financial assistance approved today, the District will construct a new 6 million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant at the site of its existing plant. The new plant will consist of two 3 million-gallon-per-day treatment trains with reuse of some equipment from the existing plant. The project also includes the acquisition of land to the north of the existing site as well as resizing the lift station to accommodate future inflow.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
